Austin: Gaza cease-fire agreement must be implemented unconditionally – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Pentagon website, American Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, after announcing the ceasefire agreement mediated by Qatar, Egypt and the United States, emphasized the need to strictly implement the provisions of this agreement.
A part of this statement states: I am happy that Israel and Hamas reached a cease-fire agreement and the release of the hostages (captives) after months of decisive US diplomacy along with Egypt and Qatar. From President Biden to all the branches of the government, we all worked tirelessly as a government to reach this agreement and this day. This agreement must be executed carefully and unambiguously.
In another part of this statement, Austin emphasized on a two-state solution without referring to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime during the more than 15-month war in Gaza and the killing and genocide of Palestinians in this area, which took place under the direct support of Washington, and continued: Israelis and Palestinians are not condemned to eternal war, and with your leadership and wisdom, we can move towards a day when Israelis and Palestinians live side by side in peace and security in two independent countries with mutual security (!)
According to Mehr, the Zionist regime had repeatedly opposed any ceasefire agreement in the past 15 months. The reason for this was the failure of the announced goals. In recent days, a lot of pressure was put on Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, to accept the ceasefire because the costs of this war were very high for the Zionist regime, and even the resistance in the region was targeting American targets due to the continuation of the Gaza genocide. Finally, despite the opposition of the hardliners of Netanyahu’s cabinet, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime agreed to this ceasefire to avoid further defeats. In fact, the most important goals that the Zionist regime could not achieve by accepting this ceasefire were the complete defeat of Hamas, the release of prisoners and the return of displaced settlers to the north of the occupied territories.
Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip last night at a press conference in Doha. Click here to see the full text of the ceasefire agreement.
