The most important attraction of the Akita Canto Festival is the stunning display of skilled people (tall bamboo columns) with a row of paper lanterns on top of them. Canto columns are in different sizes, the largest of which is 2 meters long and 2 kg, carrying 2 paper lantern and lit with real candles. With the sound of drums, flutes and screams, each person lifts a contorter column and maintains it vertically using different techniques.
The main and stunning part of the Canto Festival is the night shows held every night in the Akita city center. More than 2 groups of executors are queue with canto columns; Then they all raise the columns and begin their performance. This magnificent show takes 5 minutes, and at the end of each night, the audience is given a chance to take pictures with the performers and experience the art of lifting the canto column.
Chichibu Night Festival, Chicibu City
One of the most beautiful night parade in Japan, which is accompanied by extraordinary fireworks, is called the Chichibu Night Festival.
