Franz Josef Land is a collection of 192 islands in the Arctic Ocean and northern Russia that hosts numerous arctic animals. bWatch a short video of this mysterious land.
“Franz Josef Land” is one of the largest and most isolated islands in the Arctic Ocean, named after Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. This area was discovered during the Austro-Hungarian explorations in 1873 and has been used as a place for scientific and military research ever since.
Franz Josef Land is also home to arctic animals such as polar bears, seals and seabirds. Due to the harsh environmental conditions and remoteness, Franz Josef Land is mainly used as a scientific research and military area, and only a few researchers and soldiers reside there. Geographically, these islands are located between 80 and 81 degrees north latitude, which makes them one of the northernmost points on the planet.
Let’s watch a video of Franz Josef Land together below.
