Wang Yi: US tariffs are excessive selfishness
The Chinese Foreign Minister has announced that Beijing is standing alongside international law and opposed support for the US.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said today (Saturday) that Beijing will seek solidarity with other countries on tariff status and will reveal “extremist selfishness” and bullying in some countries.
Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the Chinese and Central Asian Foreign Ministers in Kazakhstan, he noted that China is standing alongside international law and opposing support for US tariffs.
Supporting is a kind of economic policy of preventing trade between countries by imposing tariffs on imported goods and restricting the volume of imports and so on.
US President Donald Trump said in an interview on Friday that tariff talks with China were underway, but Beijing denied any talks with Washington.
This is the latest in a set of contradictory signals about the progress made to reduce tension in the trade war, which is a threat to the growth of the global economy.
Speaking to the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Wang Yi also emphasized that China is seeking solidarity with other countries and would support multilateralism for injecting stability into the world.
