Next generation Apple Watch Ultra with support for satellite communication

The latest rumors indicate that the next generation of Apple Watch Ultra will be equipped with satellite SMS functionality. This feature, which was previously introduced in Apple iPhones, provides the possibility of sending text messages without the need for a cellular network or Wi-Fi. Mark Gorman, a Bloomberg analyst, has announced that, in addition to this feature, Apple has also considered the blood pressure monitoring feature in the next generation Apple Watch Ultra. According to Gorman, the satellite texting feature on the Apple Watch will have the same functionality as the iPhone and will be provided through Apple’s partnership with Globalstar, the company’s satellite partner.

According to Tekna technology news media gadget service, Apple plans to replace Intel modems with Mediatek chips in some Apple Watch models. This new chip will also support 5G RedCap network. RedCap is a 5G service optimized for wearable and IoT devices that reduces costs and extends device battery life by reducing redundant antennas and limited bandwidth.

The addition of satellite SMS functionality to the Apple Watch Ultra can encourage some Garmin Enrich users to buy this product. However, Apple still faces challenges in competing with the Garmin Enrich’s multi-hundred-hour battery life. This new feature is likely to be useful in long-term trips and activities in areas where there is no network access.

The long-awaited blood pressure monitoring feature is likely to arrive on the Apple Watch Ultra by 2025. This feature, although it does not provide accurate measurements, can inform the user of possible signs of high blood pressure. Gorman emphasized that development of the feature has been delayed in the past and it may take more time to roll out.
