In a new interview, Dario Amodei, the CEO of Entropic, has talked about the future of artificial intelligence. He says that with this technology, in 5 to 10 years, we can achieve the advances of the next 100 years in fields such as biology. This can double human lifespan.
Dario Amodi said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal:
“My guess is that if we really get what we need for artificial intelligence right, we can make 100 years of progress in areas like biology in the next five or 10 years. “If you think about what we expect humans to do in the next 100 years in, say, biology, doubling the human lifespan is not at all out of the question.”
Dario Amudi holds a Ph.D in biophysics from Princeton University and was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University before entering Silicon Valley, but Amudi’s prediction of doubling human life in such a short period of time is merely a guess and may not be accurate.
Anthropic CEO comments on artificial intelligence
This is not the first time that Dario Amudi describes the potential of artificial intelligence in biology and health. October 2024 In a long article, he mentioned that artificial intelligence could eventually lead to advances in the treatment of almost all natural infectious diseases, the eradication of most cancers, and effective treatments for genetic diseases.
Amodi said in his new interview that the past 3 to 6 months have made him increasingly confident that AI systems are progressing to eventually surpass humans in almost all tasks. He says:
“My guess is that by 2026 or 2027, we’ll have AI systems that are better than all humans at almost everything.”
Of course, Amudi admits that the rapid development of this technology faces limitations. “The thing that holds us back most of all in positive applications[of artificial intelligence]is the physical world and the limitations of human institutions,” he says. Of course, according to him, the drugs developed by artificial intelligence should still undergo clinical trials.
“Larry Ellison”, the co-founder of Oracle, also agrees with Emodi about the importance of artificial intelligence in improving human health. He gave a speech at the White House last week and said that in the future, artificial intelligence can help diagnose and develop cancer treatment vaccines and make these vaccines available to everyone within 48 hours.
