At the beginning of 2025, Telegram has taken a big step towards user interaction by providing a new update.
In this update, a new way of verifying the identity of user accounts is introduced, which allows users to communicate with each other more confidently. Previously, Telegram provided the possibility of identity verification for public figures and organizations; But now with the launch of a new platform, verified entities and individuals can directly authenticate other user accounts.
Another highlight of this update is the ability to convert in-app gifts to non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. This innovative feature allows users to convert received gifts into valuable digital assets that can be traded on global markets.
From now on, accounts verified by third parties in Telegram will benefit from a new icon instead of the familiar blue tick. This new icon clearly displays the verification method and account affiliation.
All organizations and institutions that wish to receive approval must go through the approval process before taking any action and submit their request to obtain an official approval mark. It should be noted that Telegram has made it possible for institutions to use its API to grant or remove account approval.
Telegram has also taken a new step in the world of digital gifting by offering the possibility of converting gifts into NFT. Users can now send each other unique gifts with custom backgrounds and icons by purchasing Telegram stars through the Telegram app or the Fragment website and connecting the TON cryptocurrency wallet. This new feature, while maintaining the emotional value of the gift, also provides the possibility of investing and trading these digital assets.
Telegram has announced that users will be able to trade their NFTs across multiple platforms. In order to cover the costs associated with blockchain transactions, the Telegram platform will charge users a gift upgrade fee.
