Details of the Treaty of Security Guarantees within the Belarusian and Russian Union
The Rihanosti News Agency released details on Wednesday about the provisions of the Treaty of Security Guarantees between Belarus and Russia.
According to RCO News Agency, the security guarantee treaty within the framework of the Belarusian and Russian Union, which was approved by the Russian Duma, has been approved that relations between Moscow and Minsk will not be against any other country.
The provisions of the treaty state that Russia and Belarus consider any armed attack on themselves as a “aggressive action” and that Russian military facilities and military units may be deployed in Belarusian soil to prevent such actions.
Russia can also use its nuclear weapons in response to the use of conventional weapons against each of the two countries – leading to threats to their sovereignty. The two countries view Russian nuclear weapons as an important factor in preventing nuclear military conflicts.
The security guarantee treaty within the Belarusian and Russian Union will be automatically renewed after five years of implementation.
