Romania signs contract to replace Patriot system sent to Ukraine
Romania is set to sign a contract with the United States in February to buy the Patriot air defense system, which will replace the system it transferred to Ukraine last year, Romania’s defense minister said on Tuesday.
According to Isna, Romanian authorities approved the transfer of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine in September. At that time, Romania had two systems in operation and two more were being prepared for operation.
“At the end of the year, the US government decided to approve the delivery of three Patriot systems to Romania that were included in the program,” the Romanian defense minister said in an interview. Regarding the system that was transferred… we expect the contract for this system to be signed in February. “The negotiations between us and our American partner are ongoing.”
He further emphasized that the process of negotiation and signing of the contract will be done in a very short time.
