According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Tass, Alexander Sirsky, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that Kiev currently does not have the ability to intercept Russian medium-range ballistic missiles.
Speaking to the TSN TV channel, Sirsky said that “there is no such system at the moment.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on November 21, 2024 that in response to Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory with Western long-range missiles, Moscow for the first time fired its newest medium-range ballistic missile called “Orshnik” at a Ukrainian defense complex called “Yuzmash”. He attacked in the city of Dnieper.
The Orshanik missile has the ability to target targets up to a range of five thousand kilometers, and it is extremely difficult to intercept. After the attack, Putin warned that Moscow would use the missile again if needed, but would not make hasty decisions.
