The members of the Security Council expressed concern about the genocide in Gaza – Mehr News Agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, citing Al Jazeera, the meeting of the UN Security Council was held after last week’s attack on the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza and the arbitrary arrest of Hossam Abu Safieh, the director of this hospital.
Asim Iftikhar, Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations, said on Friday local time at the Security Council meeting about the situation in the Middle East: “The intentional targeting of medical staff, patients and wounded in hospitals is against all the principles of humanitarian rights and has no justification.”
Iftikhar said that nowhere in the world are international humanitarian laws “trampled” like in Gaza, noting that Israel’s actions are unjustified and require immediate accountability.
The representative of Pakistan added: The level of this genocidal campaign is staggering. Its purpose is undeniable. Houses, schools, hospitals and even the cultural heritage of Gaza have been destroyed. Even the United Nations and its employees are not spared. This is not a war.
He said: This is a campaign of expropriation, ethnic cleansing and extermination, indiscriminate bombing of civilians and systematic destruction of vital infrastructure. These are calculated actions aimed at erasing entire people from their land.
The Pakistani ambassador also asked the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility and not “close its eyes” to this tragedy. He added: Silence is like complicity. Israel must comply with international humanitarian law.
Nicolas de Riviere, France’s representative to the United Nations, also said that France condemns the recent Israeli military operation that targeted several hospitals, especially Kamal Adwan Hospital.
He said: Israel must follow international humanitarian laws. This requires respect and protection of medical staff and infrastructure.
Calling on Israel to agree to send humanitarian aid, De Riviere said all crossings must be open and convoys and humanitarian workers must be protected.
Ammar bin Jame, the ambassador and permanent representative of Algeria to the United Nations and the rotating chairman of the Security Council, also said: Israel’s continuous aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, has a clear and worrying goal, which is ethnic cleansing, especially in the north of Gaza. .
He said: The goal of the occupying power of Israel is to destroy the resistance of the Palestinian people, we must act together to end this tragedy.
Bin Jammeh also called on the Security Council to demand an “immediate, unconditional and permanent” ceasefire in Gaza.
“Civilians cannot be left without functioning hospitals or adequate medical care,” said Dorothy Shea, deputy ambassador and permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations.
“It is vital for Israel to comply with international humanitarian law and take every possible step to prevent harm to civilians, especially with regard to the patients being cared for at Kamal Adwan Hospital and the medical professionals who are treating the population,” he said. They are busy.”
The US diplomat added that the US has made it clear to Israel that it needs to do more to address these preventable human shortages.
Russia’s ambassador and representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, also said that Moscow is deeply concerned about Israel’s continuous attacks and bombings against civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.
Calling on Israel to comply with international humanitarian laws, he said that hospitals cannot become battlefields.
Nebenzia clarified: They may not be used for military purposes and medical staff should have opportunities to perform their civilian and ethical duties without hindrance.
