Zelensky: Kyiv and Damascus will have more beneficial cooperation

According to RCO News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said today (Monday) that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Andriy Sibiha, visited Damascus on his order and along with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Policy of Ukraine.

By publishing this article, CGTN reported that Zelensky said: “The Ukrainian delegation had an important consultation with the interim government of Syria and its ministers, as well as with Ahmed al-Shora, the head of the Syrian governing body.” We support the Syrian people in overcoming several decades of dictatorial rule and restoring stability, security and normal life in Syria.

The government of “Bashar Assad” was overthrown on December 8 with the advance of Syrian armed opposition and their arrival in Damascus, and the power of Damascus was handed over to these groups. Currently, a transitional government has been formed in Syria and according to the constitution of this country, the government of this country must be determined through elections.

CGTN further quoted Zelensky and wrote: As we promised, 500 tons of Ukrainian wheat flour is going to arrive in Syria tomorrow. More (food) shipments will also be delivered and more mutually beneficial cooperation will take place in many areas.

He added: We really appreciate the opportunity that has been provided to restore normal and stable life in Syria and we are ready to establish long-term strategic relations. I expect the foreign and agriculture ministers to report to me the results of their trip when they return to Ukraine.
