Russian ambassador: Moscow and Beijing respond to Western pressure with double countermeasures
The Russian ambassador to China emphasized that the two countries should respond to the West’s attempt to impose “bilateral restraint” with “bilateral countermeasures”.
According to RCO News Agency, Igor Morgolov, the Russian ambassador to China, stated in an interview to Novosti News agency on Friday: “In the international arena, our countries should respond to the policy of bilateral containment that the West is trying to implement with bilateral countermeasures.” It is against Russia and China to respond.”
In the continuation of this interview, Morgolov noted that many of the ideas proposed by China can be the basis for a series of further measures to resolve the war in Ukraine.
The Russian ambassador stated: “Based on a sincere desire to facilitate a quick resolution of the war, these partners have put forward several initiatives, including the creation of the “Friends of Peace” group dedicated to Ukraine issues in the United Nations, while this group includes a group of countries from the “Southern world” (developing countries) has common approaches and thoughts. We believe that many of the ideas expressed by Chinese colleagues can be used as a basis for further actions in various directions.”
Morgolov said that Russia is in constant contact with the Chinese side regarding the situation in Ukraine.
Since February 24, 2022, the Russian army has launched a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, which has continued until now. “Vladimir Putin”, the President of Russia, has emphasized that the purpose of this operation is “to protect the people who have been targeted by the genocide carried out by the Kiev regime”.
According to the Russian president, the ultimate goal of this operation is the complete liberation of the Donbas region and the creation of conditions that guarantee Russia’s security.
