Pakistan’s reaction to the new US sanctions; Our nuclear program is defensive
In response to the new US sanctions against Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, the country’s prime minister said that Pakistan’s nuclear program is 100% defensive in nature.
According to RCO News Agency, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the US sanctions against the country’s ballistic missile program today (Tuesday) and said that this action has no justification.
Sharif said in the government cabinet meeting: “The sanctions that have been imposed against the National Development Complex and our other institutions have no justification… Pakistan has no intention of developing an offensive nuclear system and this system is only for Pakistan’s defense and that’s it.”
The National Development Complex, which operates in the field of defense and aerospace and belongs to the Ministry of Defense of Pakistan, is one of the four companies that have been sanctioned by the United States.
Earlier, the government of Pakistan expressed its regrets about the sanctions of the United States and emphasized that Washington’s biased policies have destructive consequences for the strategic stability of the region and beyond.
In September of this year, the United States sanctioned several Chinese supplier companies and a Pakistani entity for allegedly participating in Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.
In addition, Washington blacklisted four Belarusian and Chinese companies in April for allegedly supplying parts to Pakistan’s long-range missile program.
