The Pentagon admits to increasing the military presence in Syria before the fall of Assad – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder has said that America has doubled its military presence in Syria and according to him, this reinforcement has nothing to do with recent developments and the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government!
The Pentagon had stationed around 900 troops in Syria for years, and American officials always repeated this figure even after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8th, but now it is clear that this country deployed around 2,000 troops in the months leading up to the fall of Assad. Syria had settled!
However, Ryder claimed at the Pentagon press conference that they just found out that the number was higher!
He claimed: Considering the difference between what was reported to us and the actual figure, I felt it was important to inform you of this information. Diplomatic and operational sensitivities were the reason for the delay in this notification.
According to him, reinforcements were present in Syria for at least a few months on a rotating basis and it has been this way for some time, and it has nothing to do with the recent developments, and its timing is purely coincidental.
