Soon, the national smart card will replace your bank cards. But how does this development happen in the banking system and how long should we wait for it?
In order to add service facilities to bank cards, the National Bank of Iran has registered a contract with the Civil Registration Organization of the country. One of the important achievements of the signed memorandum is that soon users will be able to use their national cards instead of bank cards.
In this memorandum, discussions between the two organizations regarding the operationalization of this project have been discussed. In order for such a goal to be possible, the adaptability of fingerprints, the access of banks to the electronic inquiry system of the identity and address of people, as well as the access to the database of businesses based on non-present authentication is necessary.
Najarzadeh, CEO of National Bank of Iran, says about the practical steps to implement this big project:
With the cooperation and synergy that has been formed today between the civil registry and the National Bank of Iran, many problems of people and government institutions are supposed to be solved. 52 million people have opened an account in the National Bank of Iran, and this means that most of the country’s people are among the subscribers of this bank. This is a good excuse for us to always try to provide the Iranian people with the services they deserve and to start cooperation in this field.
By obtaining permission to access the registered information of its subscribers in the civil registration organization, the National Bank of Iran can carry out the validation and authentication process with greater speed and transparency, and ultimately provide better services to its customers.
The smartness of the national card can make electronic services easier
Now that national cards have changed from standard to smart, there is a great opportunity for government agencies to make the most of it in order to improve the quality of their services. The banking system is one of the most important parts of the electronic government, in which the National Bank of Iran, in cooperation with the country’s civil registration organization, is now seeking to create a large-scale transformation in it.
This is even foreseen in the law, and in the 7th development plan, you can see the phrase “combination of service cards (including bank cards) in the national smart card”, which also includes bank cards. National Bank, as the most branched bank in the country, can help to advance this event.
