Samsung company usually introduces three models of its flagship Galaxy S series every year: base, plus and ultra. Each of these models has different screen sizes, with the base model being the smallest. Although the base model like the Galaxy S24 isn’t as popular as the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, it’s one of the few small flagships in the Android segment and competes directly with Apple’s smaller phones like the base iPhone 15 or iPhone 16.
According to Tekna Technology Media’s mobile news service and according to published reports, Samsung and Apple have been the two main brands with small phone models. But the Galaxy S25 may be the last small phone in the series, as the gap between the two brands’ phones is wide. Therefore, some believe that Samsung might retool the Galaxy S26 series and drop the base model of the Galaxy S26. Meanwhile, the upcoming Oppo Find X8 is set to launch as a new small flagship phone.
Ice Universe states that Samsung will struggle for the next few years, while Apple has a firm foothold in the segment. He claims that Chinese brands are also better at making small, powerful devices, so the Galaxy S25 may also be out of date (to some extent) at launch. It’s worth noting that this is still just an unconfirmed report, and it’s more than a year away from the launch of the Galaxy S26 series. Earlier, there were also rumors that the Galaxy S25+ would not be launched, which were false. So this could be one of those things.
