Samsung introduced its Odyssey 3D glasses-free 3D monitor at Gamescom 2024. However, glasses-free 3D display technology is nothing new. Odyssey 3D Samsung 3D gaming monitor
Samsung’s 3D monitor uses Light Field Display (LFD) technology to create 3D images from 2D content using a lenticular lens on the front panel. Combined with the display, eye tracking and vision mapping technology allows users to enjoy a 3D experience without the need for separate 3D glasses.
While eye tracking monitors the movement of both eyes using a built-in stereo camera, vision mapping continuously adjusts the image to enhance depth perception. Samsung also offers an option where users can easily switch between 2D and 3D modes based on their needs. A stand with adjustable height and tilt is also provided with this monitor, which will allow users to adjust it according to their needs.
The technical specifications of this gaming monitor include 4K resolution, 1ms response time, and 165Hz refresh rate to provide smooth and clear gaming images. In terms of connection options, Odyssey 3D uses a DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports with FreeSync Premium support.
