A review of user searches on Google shows that the volume of Internet browsing related to non-currency tokens (NFT) and Metaverse has decreased since the beginning of 2022. In the meantime, the decrease in acceptance of NFTs has been more noticeable than that of Metaverse.
According to Cointelegraph, while people’s interest in searching for the keywords “metaverse” and “NFT” increased in the last quarter of 2021, data from the Google Trends platform shows that it is likely that in February 2022, The hype associated with these areas has faded.
The statistics of the last 12 months of Google Trends, which is a tool for measuring the amount of searches for different terms in Google, show that the volume of searches for the word metaverse has been increasing from October (October) to December (December) 2021. However, since the beginning of 2022, interest in searching for this word has decreased and has reached its lowest level since the beginning of March.
In addition to the metaverse, NFT keyword searches have also experienced a decline since 2022, but the drop in NFT keyword searches has been more noticeable. As can be seen from the image below, the amount of searches for this word, which reached its highest value in 2021, has decreased drastically in the first quarter of 2022.
In the last 12 months, Turkish users accounted for the most metaverse keyword searches. After that, China and Singapore are in the next ranks. Cyprus and Lebanon are ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
Meanwhile, over the past 12 months, Singapore has topped the list for NFT keyword searches. After that, Hong Kong, China, Canada and the Philippines have taken the next ranks respectively.
In December, for the first time, people’s interest in searching for the word NFT surpassed the word “crypto”. Apart from this, the monthly trading volume in the OpenSea NFT market also reached its highest level in January. The increase in the search volume of this keyword and the volume of transactions shows that NFTs have finally caught the attention of the general public of digital currency market participants.
