A joint meeting of the heads of the Iran Space Organization and the Communications and Information Technology Research Institute was held with the aim of expanding bilateral cooperation.
In this meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding on the joint cooperation between the Institute of Communication and Information Technology and the Iran Space Organization in the field of artificial intelligence development, and it was decided that the preparation of the document and the 3-year joint cooperation program should be included in the agenda of the joint working group.
In this meeting, Morteza Berari, head of the Iran Space Organization, emphasized the need to pay attention to space-based businesses and said: Space science has passed four generations. In the first generation, when astronomy was discussed, our country was one of the leading countries in this field, but in the next two generations, which include launching objects into space and international space stations, we have fallen behind in this technology.
He said: Our country in the fourth generation of space, which deals with the issue of using spatial information to provide services, can grow rapidly and have a say in this field as one of the cutting edge sectors of technology. Brari added: We hope that with the cooperation of the Research Institute of Communication and Information Technology, we will be able to implement the defined projects more quickly; Because from the combination of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and big data, etc. with space and satellite information, it is possible to form a great transformation which is the fourth age of space.
Vahid Yazdanian, head of the Research Institute of Communication and Information Technology, also said in this meeting: According to religious orders and the verses of the Holy Quran, penetration into space will be based on science and knowledge. Therefore, the Institute of Communication and Information Technology, as the scientific hub of the Ministry of ICT, is ready to play an effective role in all projects of the Space Organization.
Referring to the launch of the artificial intelligence innovation and development center, he said: Fortunately, with the launch of this center, the possibility of more and more specialized research on this issue has been provided in the research institute, and with the launch of the Simorgh supercomputer and the sending of satellites into space, this chain is being completed. .
Yazdaniyan continued: The good connection of the ICT Research Institute with the country’s universities can also be an effective help in using university capacities for the country’s space organization.
