Hossein Afshin announced the creation of a powerful computational infrastructure for the development of artificial intelligence in the country and announced that the Vice President of Science has spent a significant portion of his resources buying graphic processing units (GPUs) in year 6.
At a meeting with members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s Education Committee on determining the priorities of the Parliament’s Knowledge Committee, with the aim of realizing the slogan of the year, “investing in production” designated by the leader of the revolution, he explained that if a company wishes to move in the direction of investment, production and effectiveness. He added that the scientific deputy has also put this principle as one of its main priorities.
Emphasizing the importance of supporting knowledge -based companies in the direction of investment, he said that all the power and energy of the scientific deputy would serve the country on this path and that there has been measures. For example, the conversion of the Department of Science Financing into a specialized center has been one of these measures.
Afshin went on to refer to the scientific deputy programs to finance knowledge -based companies and said that in March, a working group was formed with the participation of knowledge -based companies, and as a result, three new financing models were designed for these companies. Also, in cooperation with Bank Mellat, technology development securities worth $ 4 trillion will be issued; A small but important step towards developing this area.
Hossein Afshin announced that, given the year -long naming of the “Photonics Year”, the scientific deputy has focused on new areas such as quantum, photonics and artificial intelligence. In this regard, he said, visits to the active centers in the field of quantum and serious support for the field have been on the agenda.
Focus on powerful and quantum computing infrastructure
He also explained that a meeting called the Quantum Administration Council was held with the presence of the President and related institutions, and the scientific department was obliged to formulate and present the country’s comprehensive program in the quantum field by the end of June. He added that identifying the country’s capabilities in various areas of quantum technology, including quantum sensors, calculations and communications.
Afshin went on to point out the actions of the Scientific Department to implement the Seventh Development Plan, saying that it was one of the few institutions that have succeeded in drafting all bylaws related to the Seventh Plan Law and approved them in the specialized and public committees of the Majlis.
In another part of his remarks, Afshin pointed to the significant growth of the number of knowledge -based companies and explained that the number increased from about 1,000 companies to 10,000 companies, but unfortunately the budget of the scientific deputy has not increased in proportion to this growth and has reached only one -tenth of the needed resources. He warned that this situation could be a problem for the country’s science and technology.
He also said that last year, the only financial obligations of the medical field were about 2 trillion tomans (1) and that there was no budget for new programs next year. Afshin expressed hope that with the support of parliament, this problem would be resolved.

According to him, identifying and supporting professors and universities that have the capacity in this field has begun and is trying to make the responsibility that the government, parliament and the people have given the deputy to the best possible way.
