Finland’s Torvalds, known for being grumpy and criticizing developers who don’t meet his standards, spoke about artificial intelligence at the Open Source Summit in Vienna. In a part of his speech that was shared on social networks, he says:
“I think artificial intelligence (category) is quite remarkable and will change the world. And at the same time, I hate its hype so much that I don’t really want to use it.”

He continues:
“So right now my approach to AI is to basically ignore it because I think the whole AI technology industry is in a very bad shape and it’s 90 percent marketing and 10 percent reality.”
However, Torvalds is optimistic about the future of artificial intelligence:
“Everything will change in the next five years, and at that point we’ll see what AI will actually do in our daily lives other than ChatGPT.”
54-year-old Linus Torvalds designed the Linux kernel in 1991. Linux is an operating system that was originally designed for use only on Intel 80386 microprocessors, but now it can be used on a variety of devices, from personal computers to supercomputers and mobile phones.
