A few years have passed since the introduction of the first smart glasses, and during this time, many developers, including Google and Microsoft, tried to attract the attention of smartphone users to this attractive technology and make a different and practical product available to those interested; But despite all these efforts, the technology giants have not achieved much success in the field of smart glasses and have not been able to bring the audience with them like other wearable devices including smart watches. Now it seems that Meta, managed by Mark Zuckerberg, has prepared ambitious plans in the field of smart glasses and is trying to give new life to the half-life body of this futuristic tool by adding artificial intelligence to its new glasses.
Speaking at the Connect developer conference at Meta headquarters in Silicon Valley, Mark Zuckerberg spoke about the company’s future plans for digital assistants and smart glasses. Different virtual characters make things easier. Smart glasses are the same tool that carries all these features with it and allows us to offer various features to the audience in accordance with modern fashion.
Continuing his speech on the importance of artificial intelligence in the future of MetaPay, he announced that the company seeks to establish its position in the highly competitive market of this technology by developing a digital assistant and glasses equipped with artificial intelligence. “Smart glasses allow users to share what they see with their audience in real time,” Zuckerberg said. It is an ideal tool for using smart assistants and allows users to share their visual and auditory data with the smart assistant in real time.”
The second generation of Meta smart glasses under the title RAY-BAN STORIES, made in collaboration with the famous Ray-Ban collection, will be available to the audience on October 17, 2023 at a price of $299. These glasses provide users with features such as imaging with an ultra-wide lens and playing sound through speakers built into the glasses’ handles. Also, the owners of these glasses can communicate with the Meta smart assistant through voice command and issue various commands such as making a call, playing a song, etc.
Meta also introduced the third version of the Quest 3 headset and considered it an improved and richer experience than the previous version of this virtual reality glasses. The Quest 3 will be available on October 10 for $499, and Zuckerberg is aiming to take on the $3,499 Apple Vision Pro with this relatively inexpensive headset. What do you think about this? Can Meta replicate the success of watches and smartphones by adding artificial intelligence capabilities to smart glasses, or will the wearable trend continue?
