Honor introduced the third generation of its foldable phone called Magic V2. The phone is only 9.9mm when folded (4.7mm when unfolded) and weighs just 231g.
Until now, the thinnest folding phone in the world was Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which was 11.2 mm thick and weighed 262 grams when folded. Now Honor Magic V2 has managed to break its record.
This phone uses a gearless hinge mechanism made of 3D printed titanium alloy. The folding mechanism of this phone also uses custom short screws. Honor has said that the Magic V2 has a P2i coating on all its internals, which will protect it from splashes.
Honor Magic V2 uses a 7.92-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2156 x 2344 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This display supports HDR 10+ technology and a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. There is also a 16-megapixel selfie camera inside a punch hole on the front panel. Honor foldable phone also supports pen.
The display of the Honor Magic V2 cover is a 6.43-inch 10-bit OLED panel with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It has a maximum brightness of 2500 nits. An interesting point is that the cover display also supports pen input.
The Magic V2 is powered by a 2nd generation Snapdragon 8 chip that has a Cortex-X3 core with an overclocked speed of 3.36 GHz. Along with this chip, 12 GB of RAM and 512/256 GB of internal memory are used. There is a Magic V2 Ultrame version with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.
On the back panel of this phone there is a 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.9 aperture and OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and OIS.
In the software section, we see MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13 and the device is powered by a 5000 mAh carbon silicon battery with 66W wired charging.
It comes in black, purple, and gold colors, and the base 256GB/12GB version is priced at 8,999 yuan ($1,254). The price of the 12/512 GB version is 9999 yuan ($1394) and the price of the Ultimate version with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal memory is 11999 yuan ($1672).
The pre-order of this phone in China has started today and its official sale will start on July 20. Honor has not yet spoken about its global launch.
