Mercedes-Benz announced that it will use Tesla’s NACS charging technology for its electric vehicles in North America. This process will start in 2025.
In this way, Mercedes-Benz will become the first German automaker to use NACS technology, joining the likes of Ford, General Motors and Volvo.
The use of NACS technology by Mercedes-Benz is an important step in the electric vehicle industry. This technology will allow Mercedes-Benz drivers to have access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America starting in 2025. This action will improve the charging experience of Mercedes-Benz electric car drivers and will bring more comfort to them.
Mercedes-Benz also plans to expand its charging network. The company wants to build a new charging network with more than 2,500 high-power chargers in the North American region. This network will provide the best charging experience for Mercedes-Benz and non-Mercedes-Benz drivers.
The first Mercedes-Benz high-power charging sites will start operating in the last quarter of 2023. The expansion of the Mercedes-Benz charging network will also include the establishment of more than 400 charging hubs with CCS1 and NACS technologies. These hubs are going to be launched in the next few years.
Tesla now has more than 2,000 Superchargers in North America and counting. In any case, the action of Mercedes-Benz will strengthen the charging infrastructure of electric cars.
