Meta, the parent company of Facebook, announced that it has launched a virtual reality subscription service. The company has said that it will introduce two new games to the service every month.
Meta has faced a loss of 4 billion dollars in the virtual reality sector in the first quarter of 2023, and strong competitors such as Apple have also appeared in this field with the introduction of their mixed reality headsets, which will make it difficult for Meta.
Meta has now announced that the Meta Quest Plus service, which has a subscription fee of $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year and was compatible with Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets, will also be offered for Quest 3 headsets.
In 2021, Zuckerberg unveiled the new meta program to build a metaverse world, which will allow users to communicate with each other in an online virtual world. But this project has faced serious challenges and has not yet been able to achieve its goals.
In February of last year, Meta announced several ambitious AI projects that Zuckerberg cited as the key to entering the Metaverse world. However, the company’s virtual reality unit has faced huge losses in recent months, and we have to see how the competition in this field will proceed with the introduction of the Vision Pro headset by Apple at a price of $3500.
It should be noted that Meta headsets have a lower price compared to Apple headsets and are currently available for $300 to $1,000.
