Google announced the equipping of Pixel 10 series phones with Mediatek modems in order to improve thermal performance and increase battery life.
Apparently, Google has changed its mind and plans to use MediaTek’s T900 modem in its new Pixel 10 series phones. Considering that Google previously relied on Samsung’s Exynos modems, this move by Google shows that the company has reconsidered its strategy.
The MediaTek T900 modem, which is based on M85 technology, supports 3GPP Release 17 5G standards, which promises to improve the performance and energy efficiency of phones. After fully evaluating all options, including the Snapdragon X75 modem, Google decided to go with MediaTek.
Probably the main reason for choosing Mediatek is its cost-effectiveness and its ability to improve the thermal performance and increase the battery life of smartphones, because in previous Google Pixel models, we have seen problems with the phone’s battery, which were said to be caused by modem defects.
So far, not much information is available about the new MediaTek T900 modem as MediaTek has not officially unveiled it yet. More information is expected to be released immediately after the unveiling.
