The International Space Station (ISS) appears to have once again experienced a coolant leak.
The Russian space agency has announced in a post that a coolant leak has occurred in the Nauka module’s support radiator. While the Nauka module was connected to the space station in 2021, the mentioned radiator was added to the space station in 2010.
The agency has said that the Nauka module continues to operate for the time being and that there is no danger to the crew or the International Space Station.
NASA has also announced that flight controllers at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, have observed a coolant leak from one of the Nauka module’s two radiators, investigating the problem through the station’s cameras.
NASA has informed the seven-person crew of the space station about this leak, and NASA astronaut Yasmin Maqbali in the space station has also confirmed this leak by visiting the Cupola module. NASA and Russian space agency engineers are trying to fix this problem.
It is not yet clear whether the leak will affect the spacewalk scheduled for Thursday. Last year, a leak in the International Space Station caused two Russian astronauts and one NASA astronaut to stay in space for six more months.
