Scientists managed to discover a mountain on the seabed off the coast of Guatemala, whose height is about twice the height of the Burj Khalifa.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, some American scientists announced that they discovered a big mountain under water that is very high. They were mapping the seabed on the coast of Guatemala when they managed to discover this mountain range under water. According to these scientists, the height of the discovered mountain is 1600 meters and it is almost twice the height of Burj Khalifa
Experts from the Schmidt Ocean Institute in America were able to discover this mountain with the help of echo sounder. Wendy Schmidt, one of the founders of this institute, says about this: When the echo sounder was installed on the Falkor research ship, we were able to discover this unexpectedly. Despite the discovery of so much information, there is still much that remains unknown in the ocean, and we will be excited for new explorations.
The location of this mountain is in an area of 14 square kilometers at a depth of 2,400 meters from the sea level, which was accidentally discovered by the Schmidt Ocean Institute group during a 6-day passage in the summer of the Puntarenas region of Costa Rica.
Dr. Jyothika Virmani, executive director of this institute, says about the recent discovery: This discovery of a mountain with a height of more than one and a half kilometers shows that there are still many facts about the ocean that have not been discovered. By preparing a complete map of the seabed, you can get a basic understanding of the oceans. In today’s age, using technology, it is easy to map amazing parts of our planet and see them for the first time.
Seamounts are one of the important centers and the main focus of biodiversity, where a wide variety of marine organisms such as corals, sponges and many invertebrates live.
