New details, including the price of the portable version of Sony’s PS5 console, have been released by the rival company, Microsoft.
According to Axios Gaming, Microsoft has shared new details about the PS5 portable version. According to the materials sent to the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Microsoft condemned the commission for ignoring the compatibility of Xbox and Nintendo Switch controllers. The company also revealed that Sony plans to release a portable version of the PS5 later this year for less than $300.
PS5 portable version features
The portable version of the PS5 console, called Project Q, will have an 8-inch display that supports 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. In other words, this device can stream and play PlayStation 5 games over Wi-Fi. In this way, you can have a portable console with all the system capabilities of PS5 as well as dual-sense wireless controllers in your hands.
In addition to the above news, Sony and Qualcomm plan to start developing custom processors that can be used for portable consoles as well. This collaboration could be an ideal answer to the growing demand for dedicated gaming hardware.
It has been 11 years since the release of Sony’s last handheld console called PlayStation Vita. During this time, Sony focused on providing portable features through Remote Play instead of developing a new portable console. Remote Play allows users to transfer their games from a more powerful console to a smaller device. Therefore, we can conclude that Sony will improve the remote play capability with the release of the PS5 launch console.
The portable version of the PS5 console, which was unveiled by PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan during a virtual event on May 24, looks like a DualSense controller that is split into two parts, with an 8-inch screen in the middle. Ryan also stated that Sony plans to release this console later this year.
