According to CelesTrak data, 6,370 Starlink satellites are active in low Earth orbit and the rest are deactivated.

According to the SpaceX program, this company is going to launch 42 thousand satellites into the earth’s orbit to cover all the regions of the earth with its satellite internet.

SpaceX also recently launched several Direct to Cell satellites to bring satellite internet to mobile phones. While each of these satellites are able to act as a telecommunication tower, they bring the worldwide access to the people of the world to send messages, make calls and browse the web; It should be noted that when using these satellites, you will not need any additional hardware or software other than a normal LTE phone.

Of course, unlike other telecommunications towers, these satellites are constantly orbiting the earth. Also, SpaceX plans to provide satellite SMS sending service by the end of 2024, followed by the possibility of voice calls, data transfer and Internet of Things (IoT) services in 2025; Services that will operate by relying on a network of hundreds of satellites equipped with Direct To Cell capability.
