The French Foreign Minister hopes to start the process of political transition in Syria with the presence of different groups
During his trip to Lebanon, the French foreign minister expressed hope for the “political transition process in Syria” that includes all groups.
According to RCO News Agency, during his visit to Lebanon, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro noted that Paris hopes that Syria will witness a “political transition process that includes all the different groups”.
According to the AFP report, during a visit to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force base in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Deir Kifa, located in southern Lebanon, he stated: “What we are mainly waiting for is that the Syrians can decide their own destiny. take it into their own hands again.”
The French Foreign Minister also said that for this reason, after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, a political transition process must begin in Syria that includes all groups in Syria with all their diversity and guarantees respect for the most basic rights and fundamental freedoms.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France along with the Minister of Armed Forces of this country traveled to Lebanon in order to meet the soldiers of the French battalions on the occasion of the New Year and evaluate the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the forces of the Zionist regime and Hezbollah.
The large-scale war of the Zionist regime against Lebanon began on September 23, 2024, and on November 27, 2024, the two sides agreed on a ceasefire. 35 days have passed since the ceasefire between the Zionist regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah. According to the ceasefire agreement, the Zionist regime must withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, and in return, Hezbollah must withdraw to the north of the Litani River, and about 5,000 Lebanese army troops will be stationed in this area. Since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the Zionist regime has violated this agreement more than 300 times. 32 people have been martyred and 38 people have been injured due to the violation of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime.

France had previously announced that it welcomes the fall of Assad in Syria and calls for a peaceful transition.

After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, Muhammad al-Bashir officially announced on Tuesday that he will be the head of the transitional government of Syria until March 2025.
