Expressing America’s concern about the attack on minorities in Syria
The American News site, citing the officials of this country, while referring to the meeting of the US envoy in Syria with the foreign minister of the interim government of this country, reported Washington’s concern about violence against minorities.
According to Isna, American officials announced on Monday evening that Washington has expressed concern to Asad Hassan al-Shibani, the new foreign minister of the transitional government of Syria, regarding the reports of violent attacks by militant groups on minorities throughout the country in recent days.
In this regard, the “Axios” news site reported, quoting American officials: “Washington has expressed its concern to the Syrian Foreign Minister regarding the report of attacks by armed groups. “The US State Department is aware of the images that contain violations against minorities in Syria.”
This news site added: “Daniel Rubinstein, the US envoy, traveled to Damascus yesterday Sunday and met with the Syrian Foreign Minister.”
According to Axios, Rubinstein told Al-Shibani that “the United States is concerned about reports of violence, retaliation and intimidation against minorities and that such attacks must stop.”
The American base further claimed that Al-Shibani replied to the American representative that the Syrian transitional government was against such violence and claimed that it was mostly carried out by other armed groups and that “Tahrir al-Sham” had no role in them.
However, a US official told Axios that Ahmad al-Sharia, also known as Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, and the transitional government are trying to bring the situation under control by eliminating the militias and integrating them under a new, unified Syrian army.
America is worried about the attacks on minorities in Syria, while the American publication “Wall Street Journal” in a report, referring to the history of cooperation and affiliation of the Tahrir al-Sham group in Syria with Al-Qaeda and its appreciation of the leaders of this terrorist group, noted: Although Jolani tries to to separate him from his past, he is still not a moderate, and the United States should not rush to engage with him.
