Legal action against America and Germany is possible due to supplying 99% of Israel’s weapons
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Combating Terrorism announced on Friday that legal actions may be taken against the United States and Germany for providing 99% of the weapons of the Zionist regime.
According to RCO News Agency, “Ben Saul”, the special rapporteur of the United Nations, stated in an interview with Anatoly that America supplies about 69% and Germany about 30% of the weapons and ammunition of the Zionist regime.
In this regard, he said: “Every country has a duty under international law to ensure that the weapons it sends to another place are not used to violate international humanitarian law.”
Saul added that these obligations stem from the Geneva Conventions of 1949, and countries must ensure that international humanitarian law is respected.
He also said that America and Germany play a vital role in maintaining the “war machine” of the Zionist regime and they should use their influence to prevent the violation of international laws by this regime.
Referring to the Gaza crisis, the UN special rapporteur described it as “unprecedented in terms of the amount of violence and destruction in a short period of time” and added that the humanitarian situation there is still “catastrophic”.
He emphasized that the International Court of Justice has warned about the danger of genocide in Gaza and the Genocide Convention obliges countries to prevent this action.
Saul stated that the American and German governments have not correctly interpreted and implemented their international legal obligations, and legal actions may be taken against these countries in national or international courts.
This senior UN official stated that the war crimes of the Zionist regime are well-documented and well-known, and many weapons exported from America and Germany were involved in these violations.
Saul also pointed out that countries can condemn arms exports through the UN General Assembly and impose financial, diplomatic and travel sanctions against officials.
