According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Apa Az, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, wrote in a letter addressed to the Islamic President of Iran, Masoud Mezkiyan: Mr. President, from the Islamic Republic of Iran and you personally for the unified election of the Republic. I sincerely thank Azerbaijan as a member of the Economic Cooperation Organization (D-8) at the 11th summit of this organization that was held in December.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan continued in this regard: The D-8 organization, which has been active for nearly 30 years, has made a decision regarding development for the first time. This historic decision, which shows the international trust in the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a source of pride for us.

In this regard, Ilham Aliyev added: We will take advantage of this opportunity and continue joint efforts to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran based on mutual respect and good neighborliness in the interests of our nations and countries.
