Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani became the head of the Iraqi parliament – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, Iraqi legislators finally elected the new speaker of the country’s parliament during their meeting on Thursday.
Accordingly, after several months of struggle and failure to reach a consensus on a specific candidate, in the end, in the competition between Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Salem Al-Aisawi, Al-Mashhadani managed to get the highest number of votes among the Iraqi legislators.
During this voting ceremony, out of 269 votes, 183 legislators voted for Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and thus he became the head of the Iraqi parliament with the majority of votes.
Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, Iran’s ambassador to Iraq, congratulated Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani on his election as the head of the Iraqi parliament.
