Security Council: There is no alternative to UNRWA
After holding a meeting in response to the decision of the Israeli Parliament to ban UNRWA, in a statement, the UN Security Council identified this organization as the “backbone of humanitarian responses in Gaza” and warned against any action against this organization. .
According to RCO News Agency, earlier this week, the Zionist parliament (Knesset) unanimously approved the bill banning the activities of the Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) in the occupied territories of this regime.
This decision brought many reactions and widespread condemnation even from close allies of the Zionist regime. UNRWA also condemned the “shameful” decision of the Israeli Parliament to ban the activities of this agency.
“Adnan Abu Hosna”, the spokesperson of UNRWA, said: “The decision of the Knesset is a dangerous and unprecedented decision.”
“Antonio Guterres”, the Secretary General of the United Nations, also said that the implementation of the law prohibiting the activities of UNRWA in the occupied territories could have destructive consequences for the Palestinian refugees in the occupied Palestinian territories, which is unacceptable.
Security Council warning against any action against UNRWA
On the other hand, the UN Security Council held a special meeting regarding the Zionist regime’s decision to implement the law prohibiting the activities of UNRWA.
During this meeting, all five permanent members of the UN Security Council (America, Russia, China, France and England) unanimously condemned the recent action of this regime against UNRWA, despite their wide differences of opinion regarding the Gaza war and the crimes of the Zionist regime. They called it “a completely wrong decision”.
This alliance against the decision of the Zionist parliament to implement the law prohibiting the activities of the Palestinian Refugee Agency is also seen in the final statement of the Security Council.
The statement of the Security Council, which was published on the United Nations page on the “X” social network, states: “The members of the United Nations Security Council emphasize the vital role of UNRWA in providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians through the provision of medical, health, educational and other services. They emphasize in the occupied territories of Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
The members of the UN Security Council also emphasized in their statement: “UNRWA is the backbone of humanitarian responses in Gaza and there is no organization that can replace it and provide vital aid to Palestinians who need humanitarian aid more than ever.”
The danger of stopping UNRWA activities for Palestinians
In another part of the Security Council’s statement, the member states of this organization warned against any “actions to destroy, dissolve, or limit the activities” of UNRWA and declared: “Any disruption in UNRWA’s activities will be fatal for millions of Palestinian refugees.”
The members of the UN Security Council also stated in their statement: “We are concerned about the law passed in the Israeli Knesset. We ask the Israeli government to follow international laws and fulfill its duties and respect UNRWA. “Humanitarian aid should be sent to all of Gaza.”
In another part of the Security Council’s statement, the member states of this organization asked all parties to allow UNRWA to operate based on the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly and to respect humanitarian principles.
The member states of the Security Council also demanded the adoption of “necessary” measures by all parties to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the access of Palestinians in Gaza to these vital aids based on international and humanitarian laws.
Claims against UNRWA
The hostile actions of the Zionist regime against UNRWA are carried out by making baseless claims that the members of this organization affiliated with the United Nations cooperate with the Hamas liberation movement and calling UNRWA “terrorist”.
In this regard, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said: “UNRWA employees who are involved in “terrorist” activities against Israel should be punished.”
This accusation is despite the fact that according to the Western allies of the Zionist regime such as France and America, no document has been discovered to confirm the claim of the Zionist regime.
