Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: the prospect of trade cooperation with BRICS is promising
The Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, pointing out that there is a lot of capacity and space for cooperation among the countries of the global south, said that this organization is ready to cooperate with the BRICS group and other united regional organizations.
According to RCO News Agency, Zhang Ming, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, stated in an interview that there is a very promising prospect for the further development of trade and economic relations between this organization and the BRICS group.
“The outlook is very good,” Sputnik News agency reported. Whether BRICS or Shanghai Cooperation Organization, we are all members of the Global South. One of the important trends in global trade in recent years has been the rapid increase in the volume of trade between the countries of the global south, along with the increase in their level of modernization and industrialization.
The Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization added that there is a lot of space and capacity for cooperation between the countries of the global south.
He said: I am very optimistic about this cooperation. We are also ready for trade partnership with BRICS and other member countries of friendly and united regional organizations in the Global South.
Zhang added that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS share common values that focus on mutual respect and equality around the world.
The Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization stated: I believe that we can say that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS are more or less the same or very close. For example, at the 15th BRICS summit held in Johannesburg last year, the essence of BRICS was discussed, which included concepts such as democracy, respect, equality, justice, unity and cooperation.
In this regard, he said that the main pillars of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have shown great influence and attraction in today’s unstable landscape of the world, which has caused many countries to seek membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The BRICS meeting was held in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24. The meeting focused on strengthening multilateralism, new members joining the group and regional challenges.
Russia, Brazil, China, India and South Africa were the main members of this group which was formed in 2006. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have also joined this group.
