Zakharova: Moscow strongly condemns Israel’s attack on Damascus
The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry announced today (Wednesday), that Moscow strongly condemned the recent attack by the Zionist regime in Damascus and demanded respect for the sovereignty of Syria.
According to RCO News Agency, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said: “We strongly condemn this action. “Whoever the target of this attack was, it was carried out on the territory of a third country in a densely populated residential area, resulting in the deaths of innocent people.”
According to Sputnik News agency, he continued: “It is outrageous that such measures have literally become a common practice, applied in Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. We once again ask the Israeli side to respect the sovereignty of countries and observe the basic norms of international law.
The spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to “expand the geography of the escalation of armed tension in the region.”
Bringing up the issue of the Zionist regime’s repeated airstrikes in the region, he said: “Once again, Israel has severely violated Syria’s sovereignty by launching a missile attack on a multi-story residential building in the densely populated area of Damascus.”
Zakharova also said that according to Russian assessments, Lebanese Hezbollah has not lost its command hierarchy and has maintained its organization.
