Peskov: The change in Russia’s nuclear doctrine is a message to unfriendly countries
A Kremlin spokesman said the recently announced changes in Russia’s nuclear doctrine should be seen as a signal to “unfriendly countries”.
According to Isna, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that the recent changes announced in Russia’s nuclear doctrine by President Vladimir Putin should be considered as a signal to “unfriendly countries”.
He added: “This should be considered a clear signal for unfriendly countries. Also, amendments have been prepared in this document and a decision will be made about its publication later. “It should be noted that Russia’s updated nuclear doctrine sends a warning signal to the West about the consequences of an attack, not necessarily through nuclear means.”
Regarding the nuclear issue, Peskov noted: “Actually, the whole world knows very well and the wise people of the world are well aware of our nuclear potential and its deterrent role. “Of course, nuclear deterrence is regulated by taking into account those tense factors that are happening along our borders.”
On Wednesday, referring to the update of the nuclear deterrence policy framework, the President of Russia said that proposals have been made to consider any aggression by non-nuclear countries with the help of a nuclear country as a joint attack against Russia.
He said that Russia may consider the use of nuclear weapons as soon as it receives reliable information about aerial attacks, including through missiles and drones, and crossing the Russian border.
The involvement of big countries in the sabotage of Nord Stream is discussed
Referring to the explosion in the Russian gas pipeline to Europe, Peskov said that the country’s special services know that the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline could not have been carried out by a small group, but the involvement of “big countries” in this sabotage.
Peskov said in response to the results of the investigation of the explosion: “You know that our special services have information that shows that it is unlikely that such a sabotage and terrorist act against critical infrastructure was carried out by a small group of people using private funds.”
According to the Sputnik News agency, the Kremlin spokesman added: “We are discussing the involvement of major governments in organizing and carrying out this subversive act.”
Putin’s coordination regarding OPEC+ format
The Kremlin spokesman said that Putin will discuss the coordination of countries in the framework of OPEC+ with the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Ngoma Mbasogo.
In this regard, Peskov added: “We are far from the potential of bilateral relations, especially in the commercial and economic fields with Equatorial Guinea. At the same time, there are very good prospects in the field of humanitarian cooperation and, of course, very high coordination with this country in the form of OPEC+. “Also, there are many issues to discuss and these negotiations will be held today.”
