Thirty-three bridges or Allahwardi Khan Bridge, dating back to the reign of Shah Abbas I Safavid, were built on the Zayandeh River under the supervision and at the expense of the famous Safavid general, Allahwardi Khan. The construction of the thirty-three bridges was proposed in 1008 AH and in the twelfth year of the reign of Shah Abbas I, and in 1011, Allahwardi Khan Ondiladze Georgia was commissioned to complete it.
