The amazing “River Veins” series of aerial photographs of Iceland showcases the complex beauty and vulnerability of nature.
“Tom Hegen”, the famous German photographer who is known for his unique look at natural landscapes, has depicted Iceland from a completely different angle in his new collection titled “The River Veins”. This collection captures the attention of any viewer with stunning aerial shots of blue veins of water twisting through black volcanic sand.
Hagen says about this collection:
When Iceland’s glaciers melt, the icy blue water flows in veins through the black volcanic sand, forming very special patterns in the heart of nature.
What distinguishes these images is their visual duality; It can be difficult to tell if the photos were taken up close or from 3,000 feet in a small plane.
In addition to visual beauty, these images also convey a deeper message. Water patterns that flow in the form of veins in the heart of the earth are a metaphor for life and nature. In his works, Higen deals with the complex interaction of humans with nature and tries to highlight the effects of climate change. He has captured these scenes using advanced aerial photography techniques and his extraordinary artistic vision.
The combination of blue, black and gray colors in his pictures inspires the viewer with a sense of calm and at the same time the power of nature. The “River Veins” collection is not only an art project, but also a reminder of how beautiful, delicate and yet vulnerable nature looks.
