Persepolis in the Qajar period had not yet been subjected to extensive archaeological excavations; But it was considered a well-known area.
Takht Jamshid, as one of the most famous historical sites in Iran, has always been the focus of orientalists and rulers of the country throughout the history of Iran.
Most of the huge treasures of Persepolis were under the ground for many years; But slowly, attention was drawn to it from the Qajar period, and in the Pahlavi period, with its extensive excavations by foreign and domestic archaeologists, this site became one of the most prominent ancient sites in Iran. There are many old pictures of Persepolis in historical archives. In the Golestan Palace album house and among the Qajar era photos, there are a number of valuable historical photos of Persepolis, which show the attention to this area.
The following image from among the Golestan palace shadow albums only has the description of “Jamshid throne of Fars”; But in the photo, the pictures of camping under the pillars of Persepolis can also be seen.
The ancient site of Persepolis is considered one of the first sites of Iran’s world registration in the UNESCO World Heritage List and has always been among the most visited historical monuments in the country.
