India has approved the purchase order of 288 anti-aircraft missiles for S-400 air defense systems from Russia. This important action is part of the expansion of the air defense network of this country.
The Defense Supply Council of India decided to buy these missiles after reviewing the “Sindoor” operation and the experiences of the battle with Pakistan. This step is necessary to strengthen the air defense system of this country against increasing threats.

The contract includes 120 short-range missiles and 168 long-range missiles worth approximately 10,000 crore rupees (about 1.2 billion US dollars). This acquisition is vital to strengthen India’s air defense.
Delay in delivery of S-400 systems and future plans of India


India is facing a delay in the delivery of S-400 systems, which is related to the war in Ukraine. New deadlines for delivery have been pushed back to 2026-2027, while it was supposed to be completed by April 2023. India, which has ordered a total of five S-400 systems, is also considering the purchase of Pantsir-M systems.
