Samsung plans to finally add satellite connectivity to its future flagships for better competition in the Chinese market. According to new reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to be the first product from the Korean company to offer direct connection to satellite networks in the region. This decision is made while major competitors such as Apple and local Chinese brands have been providing such a feature to their users for years.
According to Tekna technology and technology news media, citing Ice Universe, it seems that this feature is specific to the ultra high-end model and it must use the satellite navigation system to send messages and emergency calls. Previously, Samsung had already conducted experiments in this field, but due to the lack of infrastructure acceptance, it was officially announced. Now, with the increasing popularity of this technology among Chinese consumers, the Korean manufacturer must unveil this feature with four years of change compared to the iPhone 14 series in order not to lose its market share.
