The war in Ukraine highlighted the importance of low-cost suicide drones, and now we are witnessing the launch of a suicide drone squadron by the United States.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has officially announced that the US military has activated its first unilateral attack drone squadron in a new task force based in the Middle East. Join us in this news section of Gadget News to have a look at the latest unmanned and economic systems in America.

This action was taken four months after US Secretary of War Pete Hegst issued an order to speed up the deployment of inexpensive unmanned systems capable of exerting decisive effects in contested scenes.
This new unit as a task force (TFSS) is tasked with deploying low-cost, autonomous attack drones to support offensive operations in the region. According to Centcom, the TFSS has previously designed a drone squadron based on the Low Cost Combat Unmanned Assault System, or LUCAS; In fact, it is a platform used to carry out unilateral offensive missions against enemy targets.
Centcom said in a statement that these drones are designed for autonomous operation and can be launched by various mechanisms such as catapult, rocket-assisted launch, and mobile ground and vehicle systems.
Adm. Brad Cooper, Command Centcom, described the launch of the TFSS as a step toward using innovation as a deterrent. He went on to say that the faster equipping of skilled soldiers with advanced capabilities in the field of drones shows the innovation and military power of the United States, which will be an obstacle against the enemies.

Centcom’s latest initiative was based on the launch of a joint task force in September, which was completed under the supervision of the command’s chief technology officer. This joint task force was formed to accelerate the deployment of emerging technologies in US forces operating in the CENTCOM domain.
The group is focused on three priority areas, which can be called Capability Integration, Software Development and Technology Diplomacy, as Centcom calls it.
The formation and operational focus of the TFSS is directly aligned with the REJTF capability domain. The United States Special Operations Command (SOCCENT) personnel is leading the development of a squadron of one-way attack drones, and this is a priority for flexible tools that will be deployed as soon as possible.
The LUCAS UAV is described as an autonomous system with a wide operational range. Designed for low-cost precision strike, the drone will add another layer of lethality to Centcom’s array of unmanned systems operating in the region.
U.S. military officials believe these platforms will provide new options for targeting enemy assets while minimizing the risk to fighter or manned platforms.
While Centcom has yet to release footage or further details about the payload capacity or specific offensive capabilities of the LUCAS system, officials emphasize the task force’s role in getting these platforms directly into the hands of operators. Cooper went on to say that this new task force provides the conditions to use innovation as a deterrent.
