The Traveler SUV from the Jetor Chery brand is coming with a retro design and a 250 horsepower engine. Traveler will follow the path of Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender.
The off-road SUV T1 or Traveler from Jetor, a subsidiary of Chery, has just been officially introduced and will be launched in July. Before the release of this SUV to the market, pictures of it have been shared on the streets of China. This Jetor product is aimed at those drivers who are looking for a SUV with an up-to-date retro design for use in the city and outside the city. In fact, with the approach taken in the design and performance of the Traveler, it can be considered a Chinese replacement for the likes of Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender.
Detailed review of the Chinese Jetor Traveler off-road SUV
Exterior design
The Jetour Traveler SUV has a retro design that reminds of old SUVs with a square or so-called boxy design. This is exactly the path that Ford and Land Rover have taken before in the design of their off-road SUVs. The similarity between the design of the Traveler and the Bronco or Defender can be seen in various elements such as the shape of the front lights, the vertical design of the rear lights and of course the square structure of the body.
In the design of the Jetour Traveler, to be more precise, in the front area, features such as a black grille with a beehive pattern, prominent square lights, the Jetour logo on the entire grille and a large bumper can be seen. The floating roof but with a different shape and image, a lot of wheel space and outstanding fenders that make the car muscular are also bold features of the side area. Finally, in the rear view, the vertical LED lights, the large rubber cover, the towing clip and the hinge on the left side of the trunk door can be seen.
Traveler SUV interior
As expected, the off-road nature of this SUV has been preserved in the cabin of Jetor Traveler. This can be seen in the shape of the dashboard, door panels, air vents, etc. Two 5-seater and 7-seater versions of this Chinese car will be available, and although the dimensions are not fully known, we have been informed that these two versions are 4.8 and 4.95 meters long, respectively.
There is a large floating display in the center of the Traveler’s dashboard and an LCD display behind the oval three-spoke steering wheel. In the central console, as expected, you can also see the gear lever, driving mode selector and screens for wireless smartphone charging. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip is also responsible for processing.
Technical specifications of Jetor Traveler SUV
Jetor has considered two internal combustion and plug-in hybrid versions for the Traveler. The internal combustion version of this Chinese SUV is offered with two engines: a 1.6-liter turbocharged with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 2-liter with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The larger 2-liter engine can produce a maximum of 250 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid version uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine plus an electric motor with a two-wheel drive system, and according to Jetor, it has the ability to travel a distance of 1,000 kilometers.
