The Samsung Galaxy S25’s flagship handset received a recycling process -based design award from the Rechamed Materials Association (Rema).
Samsung Electronics said in a statement that the Galaxy S25 flagship series, including the Galaxy S5 Ultra, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Plus, has won the 2025 Recycling Process Design Award by the Rechamed Materials Association (RMA); A achievement that is an important step towards the company’s commitment to sustainable development and production of environmentally friendly products.
The prize, known as the top honor in the field of sustainable product design, has been awarded to Samsung by the Rema (leading entity in the field of recycling and environmental innovations) to re -approve the company’s commitment to responsible development and environmental protection.

The award shows that with its innovations, Samsung has been able to take an effective step in increasing the use of recycled materials in its products and minimizing the use of natural resources in the production and supply cycle. In this regard, the Galaxy S25 has been introduced as the first Samsung handset to use a recycled cobalt (one of the key elements in battery -making). This cobalt is supplied through the new Samsung Rotary Supply Chain; The process where the materials are recovered from old Galaxy phones and unused batteries. This solution not only helps reuse valuable resources, but also significantly reduces the need for new cobalt extraction.
Daniel Araoo, Deputy Director and Director of Sustainability Office in the Samsung Mobile Experience Department, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable development:
Samsung is determined to consider stability in all stages of its product life cycle, from initial design to everyday use and ultimately recycling. The Galaxy S25 is a turning point in our way to boost the rotational economy in our products and activities; Because it has been able to combine advanced innovation with environmental responsibility. We are still trying to expand these actions and set a more stable future for future generations.
Robin Weiner, director of the Rema Association, also praised Samsung’s performance:
Samsung has shown a real pioneer and inspiring leader in the field, using design principles for recycling throughout the Galaxy S25 handset. The extensive use of recycled materials in this product is a testament to Samsung’s commitment to responsible innovation and environmental protection.
Following Samsung’s efforts to recycle recycling in the electronics industry, the company has used eight different types of recycling materials in manufacturing the Galaxy S25; Materials that include aluminum, steel, and rare elements such as neodymium. For the first time, the aluminum -resistant frame of this device is also manufactured using recycled materials, and now all the exterior of the Galaxy S25 contains at least one type of recycling material.

Also, in another way to reduce environmental footprints, Samsung has completely packaged the handset from recycled paper and refused to use any disposable plastic.
Samsung has also taken another step towards sustainability by running your self-reapir program; A initiative that allows users to repair or replace some parts of the phone themselves. Designed to extend the useful life of the devices and reduce electronic waste, it is designed to improve Samsung’s commitment to enhance environmental responsibility through consumers’ empowerment.
These measures are part of Samsung’s widespread environmental commitments aimed at reducing destructive environmental effects and moving towards sustainable development. Samsung has announced that by 2027 it intends to achieve 100 % of renewable energy in all universities of the product experience (DX). The company has also pledged to use at least one recycling material in all parts of its mobile product by 2030. In this regard, Samsung is investing in the development of innovative and environmentally friendly materials; Without sacrificing the quality, design or durability of its products.
The “Recycling Process Design” award on May 24 was awarded to Samsung during a ceremony at the Rema Association’s annual conference held in San Diego, California, as one of the pioneers of sustainability and environmental innovation.
