Google has announced that it has released two new updates to its anonymous tracker warning feature in the Android operating system. These updates help Android device users to more easily identify anonymous trackers and prevent stalking and harassment.
The first update allows users to temporarily stop sending their location updates to the Find My Device network, according to Tekna Tech News mobile media service. This action is taken when an unknown tracker is detected. Google will pause these updates for 24 hours so that the user’s location is not visible to someone who might be looking for it through a tracker.
In the second update, users can use the “Find Nearby” feature to identify anonymous trackers compatible with the “find my device” feature. Once the tracker is detected, Google provides instructions to physically disable it.
Bluetooth trackers have been increasingly abused in recent years. Some people use these trackers to monitor their victims. In response, Apple and Google have made efforts to combat stalking and harassment of people using these technologies. These updates are part of a broader effort to reduce the abuse of Bluetooth trackers and increase user security.
