Galaxy S25 phones are on the way and they are facing a serious challenge to increase the price of Apple iPhones. This has led Samsung to hope that Apple will raise the price of its next-generation iPhones, the iPhone 17, so that next year’s Galaxy phones will be better value.
According to Tekna, a senior researcher at the Samsung Research Center stated in a guest speech that the company realized that Apple’s increase in the price of the iPhone 16 was unusual. They also said that Samsung expects Apple to increase the price of the iPhone 17 series.
This issue has been bothering Samsung for some time. Galaxy S24 phones are also more expensive than the latest iPhone 16 line. And now there are reports that Qualcomm plans to significantly increase the prices of its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor.
This will make future Galaxy phones even more expensive until Samsung can improve the production efficiency of its Exynos chips. The company could also use MediaTek chips or lower-quality displays and cameras instead of raising the price of its phones.
If Samsung expects the price of the iPhone 17 to increase (which it probably will), we can assume that it has adjusted its pricing strategy accordingly. Even if the Galaxy S26 line somehow comes with the same price tag as the S25, it will still be more expensive than its competitors, unless those competitors are also priced higher.
It also doesn’t help that the Galaxy S25’s storage and RAM listings indicate that Samsung will eventually bring back 16GB of RAM. Samsung phones usually have more expensive internals (more RAM and bigger battery) and therefore should be more expensive.
The price difference is huge at this point, even if the iPhone 17 is more expensive, it will likely still be cheaper than the Galaxy phones. And with Apple moving to another in-house component, it’s now critical for Samsung to find a solution to maintain cost parity.
